About the IEEE Young Professionals Program
The IEEE Young Professionals (YP) program was created to meet the needs of recent graduates and early to mid-career professionals in the tech world. Any IEEE member who graduated from their first university degree in the past 15 years automatically becomes a Young Professionals member. Since the program encompasses members from recent university graduates to experienced professionals and entrepreneurs, the group is highly diverse in what it has to offer.
Having been established in the 1990’s, the program has grown to have local affinity groups in almost every IEEE Section across the world, and currently serves members from over 160 countries. The program’s team works together with all parts of IEEE to ensure the needs of our members are met, and there are countless engagement opportunities. With well over 1000 annual events, activities, and initiatives, the global IEEE YP community has something to offer for everyone.

About IEEE
IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. It is designed to serve professionals involved in all aspects of the electrical, electronic, and computing fields and related areas of science and technology that underlie modern civilization. The Institute and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its more than 419,000 members in over 160 countries, and its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.
IEEE’s roots go back to 1884 when electricity began to become a major influence in society. There was one major established electrical industry, the telegraph, which since the 1840s had come to connect the world with a data communications system faster than the speed of transportation. The telephone and electric power and light industries had just gotten underway.
